We chose the Ecuadorian travel agency www.mytripecuador.com . We communicated with an agent named Eddie Brborich:   info@mytripecuador.com . We highly recommend this guy, he is very capable, speaks English, is always available on Skype and email, answers every question in detail and willingly. It must be said that he planned everything very well, everything worked without problems, everyone in the Galapagos had all the information they should have about us, everything went exactly according to plan. When someone was supposed to be waiting for us somewhere - he was always there. Eddie was interested in us in advance - what we like, what we don't like, what price categories we want to be in... All the accommodation (even the hostel in Quito) was clean and comfortable (of course you're not in Europe). Due to some of our new requirements or various complications, he revised the entire itinerary several times without any problems, always offering two variants. We also Skyped during the trip when I dealt with the forgotten shoes on the ship - and he did his best to help find them. He recommended where to go on a day off. We were in contact almost every day during the preparations for about 5 weeks - everything was handled individually - great service. We sent the money in advance to Ecuador - which we were quite afraid of, but really all the services were paid for without any problems.

We strongly recommend this method of securing a trip to the Galapagos. In terms of price, you can get to a completely different place than with a Czech travel card. In addition, every single day will take place according to your individual idea. You won't find many trips on the Internet, learn about the offer of multi-day cruises, combine it with subsequent diving, crossing to another island and two one-day trips to islands that were not in our cruise... This would be, despite the fact that not every Galapagos travel the agency is in English and the national park has the right to change the itinerary of any cruise at any time and to cancel or move trips according to the needs of nature (which actually happened about twice in the two months before departure and we had to dig through our entire program completely differently to see everything required) – that would be a truly superhuman task from a computer in the Czech Republic. We think that this is the best way to arrange the whole trip so that you can be sure that you will see and experience everything that you dreamed of back home…

We met a large number of people who were in the Galapagos "last minute". I wouldn't really recommend it in a larger group of 2-3 people. Rather, it is quite manageable outside of the main season.

You can buy a last minute ticket either after arriving in Quito - in the Mariqual district. You definitely don't have a chance not to come across several agencies that sell it - they are on every corner. On the other hand, it should be taken into account that the departure can be immediately or in 10 days and the duration can be different and the agencies differ significantly in price. Everyone we spoke to who had been to the Galapagos in this way had to make some kind of compromise – they flew on a different day than they wanted, they were there for a different number of days, they didn't see everything they wanted to… The price of our cruise on the same boat was a bit higher (about a few tens of dollars for the entire cruise).

The second option is to buy only a ticket to the Galapagos Islands (we definitely recommend Baltra airport (and not San Cristobal) - there are several agencies on Santa Cruz Island where you can get something and at the same time "entertain" here for maybe three days, if you don't have day program) and resolve everything on the spot. These people made even bigger compromises. We met quite a few couples and individuals who couldn't find a cruise on the spot, so they had to go on day trips and sleep in a hotel - that way they didn't get to the more distant islands. It is often complicated to get the trip you are looking for... Some Australians told us that they came to the Galapagos for a cruise, but in the end they didn't get anything, so they did an advanced diving course for a week (not that it was boring J ). The only Czech we met wanted to go on a multi-day diving cruise, but he could only get a cruise...

It really depends on what you expect from it - whether adventurous improvisation or if you want to know in advance what you will see and be sure that you will not miss some things (which was our approach). It also depends on how much time you have…

The advantage of improvisation will be a slightly lower price, but the prices of cruises, one-day trips, diving or the services of guides are simply outrageously high, 97% of the area of ​​the Galapagos is a national park and you can't get into it without a guide - it's really impossible. Of course, the agency took a commission, but given the amount of work Eddie put into it, we think it was commensurate with how much time we would have spent on the islands without him inquiring about agencies, arranging,…
